Reflections on an urban park

This is Birmingham’s Railroad Park. An oasis just south of the city center.

On Sunday, October 30, 2011, the sky was gloriously blue, the air was crisp and the young trees in this new park were showcasing their vivid Autumn colors.

Children, adults and dogs frolicked on the grass while some enjoyed picnics, a birthday party spilled-out into the park, and joggers-walkers got their exercise.

This vision realized is good for the soul, and good for the soul of the city.

I look forward to many years of enjoyment here, and can imagine the park growing ever-more beautiful as the trees grow larger, adding their statuesque presence to this lovely urban green space.
